Each apartment in Lake Street Studios was designed with a private kitchen and bathroom. Residents have shared access to a fitness room, laundry room as well as a library / reading area.
Harley Ellis Devereaux was the architect behind Lake Street Studios, which received several awards for its sustainable design, including an AIA Chicago Design Excellence Award (2015) and an MHN Excellence Award (2015). The building has a solar hot water system and habitable, vegetative, green roof. The specially-designed metal paneling around the building creates a super-insulated envelope that helps manage internal temperatures very efficiently.
Located right next to The Parker Fulton Market, Lake Street Studios is a transit-oriented development designed to include parking for only five vehicles. According to the City of Chicago, the building cost $17.2 million to develop.
