Developer Akara Partners is behind the 17-floor Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel tower at 110 W Huron St. M.A. Mortenson- general contractor for the project- hopes to deliver the $67 million extended-stay hotel to Akara within the first quarter of 2019.
Norr Architects was tapped for the design of the building. The 120,000 square-foot hotel will offer 206 guestrooms and approximately 5,000 square-feet of ground-level retail. A green roof component will top this Home2 Suites.
A modern, glass enclosure system and concrete structural material were employed in the construction of the building. By using prefabrication and advanced construction techniques, this building was able to top-out six weeks early. Specialized equipment allowed subcontractor, Pepper Construction to pour concrete decks for each floor every three days, instead of the planned four days per floor. This will allow the project to open doors and join other River North hotels ahead of schedule.
