Columbia College Chicago employed Gensler to design their new student center. A lot of student-input was considered in the design of this building solely dedicated to students and student-life activities. The innovative center will create a unique opportunity for the college’s diverse student body to become more engaged with the vibrant South Loop neighborhood around them.
Due for completion in 2019, the five-floor, 114,000-square-foot building is being constructed at the northwest corner of 8th and Wabash in the South Loop neighborhood. Translucent glass will surround the new Columbia College Chicago student center.
The building will provide students with work spaces, multi-purpose meeting areas, presentation spaces, dining area and a wellness / fitness area. An event space with an 800-person capacity will also be housed within the facility.
