74-floor proposal, designed by Helmut Jahn, cleared to rise on Michigan Ave. directly across from Grant Park

Designed by Helmut Jahn, 1000M is a 74-floor, 832-foot residential tower set to rise along Michigan Ave. across from Grant Park. A co-development between Time Equities, JK Equities and Oak Capitals, 1000M will offer 434 luxury condos for sale and have quite an impact on the Chicago skyline south of the Loop.

Kara Mann is acting as interior designer for these luxury condos, which range in size from 926 - 5,500 square feet. A number of units were designed with outdoor terraces.

Building residents will have access to around 40,000 square-feet of amenity space, which includes a sundeck on the 11th floor, an outdoor pool and a fully-equipped bar and winter garden on the 72nd floor. The spa area will have meditation rooms, Plunge Pools and steam rooms. A high-speed elevator system will quickly and efficiently shuttle residents between floors.

The 976,000 square-foot building features bluish-green floor-to-ceiling glass panels along curving facades. Developers acquired air-rights over neighboring building, 1006 S Michigan Ave. to allow for 1000M’s cantilever design. The building’s covered porte-cochere will allow for more efficient resident drop-off / pick-up situations. A total of 400 parking spaces will be confined within the building’s multi-floor parking podium.

Real-estate listings at 1000M are generating great interest, resulting in record-pace sales for a South Loop condo tower. If sold, a unit currently listed at $8 million within the building would set a record for most expensive property sold in that particular neighborhood.

Construction is set to begin early 2019 and wrap up in 2022.
